Hrad Karlštejn, or Karlštejn Castle, is a medieval fortress located in the Czech Republic, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Prague. It was built in the 14th century by the Czech king and Holy Roman Emperor, Charles IV, as a place to store royal treasures and important documents. The castle is situated on a hilltop, surrounded by picturesque countryside.
