Souvenir Stamp in New Town Hall Tower in Prague

A souvenir stamp is a unique stamp created on-demand for tourists or visitors at certain locations, typically tourist attractions, museums, or historical sites. These stamps are often made using ink and rubber stamps and are stamped onto a traveler’s notebook, passport, or a special souvenir booklet. I am collecting those stamps in my sketchbook, please read more in my first post about it here.

At the New Town Hall in Prague, visitors also have the opportunity to imprint a souvenir travel stamp in their journals! However, please note that during the winter months, this tower is closed.

A little bit of History

Novoměstská radnice, or the New Town Hall, was constructed in the 14th century in the Gothic architectural style, showcasing the elegance and grandeur of the era. Over the centuries, the New Town Hall has witnessed numerous historical events, including meetings of the Prague municipal council and other important gatherings.

Today, Novoměstská radnice is a popular tourist attraction in Prague, drawing visitors with its rich history and stunning architecture. In addition to its historical significance, the New Town Hall continues to serve civic functions, housing offices and meeting spaces for the local government.

How to get there

Depending on your starting point, you may need to take a tram or metro to reach the New Town Hall. Use a public transportation app or map to plan your route to the New Town Hall. Enter your current location and the address of the New Town Hall (Karlovo náměstí 23, 120 00 Praha 2-Nové Město, Czechia) to find the best options for tram or metro lines to take. You will want to exit at the Karlovo náměstí tram or metro stop. This stop is within walking distance of the New Town Hall.

Once you have exited the tram or metro, follow the signs or use a map app to navigate to the New Town Hall. It is located near the intersection of Karlovo náměstí (Charles Square) and Ječná Street.

Where to put the stamp

Once you enter the tower, you will find a rubber stamp and ink on the information table. Additionally, in the same location, you can purchase tickets to enjoy the breathtaking view from the top!
